Access Controls and Permissions
Core concepts definitions
- Workspace: A Dust workspace is the main collaborative environment where teams can interact with AI assistants, organize their data through spaces (open or restricted), manage connections to external tools, and control access levels through different user roles (Members, Builders, and Admins) .
- Connections: Connections are fully managed integrations that automatically sync data from external platforms (like Slack, Notion, Google Drive) to Dust, with granular admin control over what specific content is accessible to the workspace
- Spaces: Spaces are containers in Dust that let admins organize and control access to data, coming in two types: open spaces accessible to all workspace members and restricted spaces limited to designated users.
- Users: A user is a workspace member who can access and interact with Dust assistants, with their specific capabilities determined by their assigned role (member or builder), which controls their level of access to creating assistants and accessing data.
- Admin: An admin is a workspace user with the highest level of access who can manage all workspace settings, including controlling data connections, inviting and managing members' roles, and handling subscriptions while retaining all builder and member capabilities.
