What is @dust and how to use it?
@dust is the general-purpose agent set up by default in every workspace. Mention it with @dust in the composer to ask a question, or simply send a message without mentioning any agent: Dust routes unmentioned messages to the workspace’s default agent, which is @dust unless an admin has configured a different one.
@dust answers using all the Company Data your account has access to: the connected data sources, tools, and knowledge integrated into your workspace.
Default agents like
@dust are provided by Dust and can’t be edited through the Agent Builder. Workspace admins can only enable or disable them; their instructions and tools aren’t customizable.When to use @dust
Use @dust as your starting point for:
- General questions about your company’s internal documentation and connected data sources.
- Quick, single-turn requests that don’t need a dedicated custom agent.
- Getting started with Dust before building specialized agents for your team.

Choosing a model
By default,@dust runs on the auto-model level configured for your workspace. You can pick a different model for a single conversation from the model picker in the composer, without editing the agent. See Auto models and the model picker for details.
Admin control
Workspace admins can deactivate@dust, like any other default agent, from workspace settings. If your workspace has @dust disabled, the model picker and your other agents (including custom agents) remain available; an admin can re-enable @dust at any time.
