# Skills management

> Find, filter, and manage reusable skills in your workspace.

Open **Manage Skills** to browse skills, review their usage, and manage the skills you can edit. To create a skill, click **Create skill** and choose **From scratch** or **From existing**. See the [Skills overview](/docs/user-documentation/agents/skills/skills-overview) for guidance on building skills.

**From existing** lets you import skills from a GitHub repository or upload a `.zip` or `.skill` file. Select the detected skills you want to add, then click **Import**. Creating and importing skills requires permission to create skills.

## Search and browse skills

Use the search bar to find skills by name or description. Choose a tab to browse:

| Tab | What you see |
| :- | :- |
| **Workspace** | Active skills created in your workspace that you can access. |
| **Dust** | Default skills provided by Dust. |
| **Archived** | Archived skills that you can access. |

Skills are sorted by usage by default. When you search, results are sorted by relevance unless you have chosen another sort order. Click **Name**, **Usage**, or **Last edited** to sort by that column. Use the pagination controls below the table to browse more results.

Hover over a skill's name to read its description. Click its row to open the details panel. The table also shows availability, editors, and when the skill was last edited.

**Usage** is the number of active users in the last 30 days. A dash means usage data is unavailable.

## Filter skills

Click **Filters**, select a category, and choose the values you want. Click **Apply** to update the list.

| Filter | Use it to find skills by |
| :- | :- |
| **Availability** | **Editors only**, **Members**, or **Members and agents**. See [Skill availability](/docs/user-documentation/agents/skill-availability). |
| **Tools** | Tools referenced by the skill. |
| **Skills** | Other skills referenced by the skill. |
| **Editors** | People who can edit the skill. Select your name, marked **(You)**, to find skills you can edit. |
| **Spaces** | Spaces required to use the skill. |
| **Usage** | A range of active users, selected with the slider. |

You can combine filters with your search. Filter options reflect the skills matching your search and the other selected filters.

Applied filters appear above the table. Remove a filter with its **×** button, or click **Clear all** to reset all filters. You can also reset selections with **Clear filters** inside the filter panel. To share a filtered view, copy the page URL. The link preserves the tab and filters; recipients see only skills they can access.

### View hidden skills as an admin

Open **Filters**, select **Hidden skills**, and click **Apply** to include skills you are not an editor of. Skills that require spaces you cannot access have their content hidden. This setting does not grant access to those spaces.

## Manage skills

Open a skill's **...** menu to edit it, view more information, copy its link, or archive it. Available actions depend on your permissions. You can also copy a skill's link from its details panel.

From the details panel, click **Try skill** to start a conversation with the skill, or use the favorite button to save it to your favorites.

### Update several skills

Select the checkboxes next to active workspace skills you edit. Admins can also select skills they administer. Use the action bar to:

* **Set availability**: Choose **Editors only**, **Members**, or **Members and agents**, then confirm with **Update**.
* **Archive**: Archive the selected skills after reviewing the confirmation.

Changing availability requires the **Manage skill availability** permission. Choosing **Members and agents** also requires **Make skills discoverable to agents**. See [Skill availability](/docs/user-documentation/agents/skill-availability) for what each setting allows.

The header checkbox selects eligible skills on the current page. You can add selections from other pages. Changing the search, filters, tab, or sort order clears the selection.

To restore an archived skill, open it from the **Archived** tab and click **Restore**. You must be an editor or a workspace admin.
